मथी॒द्यदीं॑ वि॒ष्टो मा॑त॒रिश्वा॒ होता॑रं वि॒श्वाप्सुं॑ वि॒श्वदे॑व्यम् । नि यं द॒धुर्म॑नु॒ष्या॑सु वि॒क्षु स्व१॒॑र्ण चि॒त्रं वपु॑षे वि॒भाव॑म् ॥ (१)

वायु ने लकड़ियों के भीतर प्रविष्ट होकर देवों के होता, नानारूप धारण करने वाले एवं समस्त देवों से संबंधित यज्ञकार्य करने में कुशल अग्नि को बढ़ाया. प्राचीन काल में देवों ने इसी अग्नि को ऋत्विज्‌ रूप में यज्ञसिद्धि के लिए धारण किया था. (१)

The wind entered the woods and increased the fire that was of the gods, the one who was different and skilled in performing the yajna work related to all the gods. In ancient times, the gods had held this fire in the form of ritvij as a ritual for the yajnasiddhi. (1)
