तन्नु वो॑चाम रभ॒साय॒ जन्म॑ने॒ पूर्वं॑ महि॒त्वं वृ॑ष॒भस्य॑ के॒तवे॑ । ऐ॒धेव॒ याम॑न्मरुतस्तुविष्वणो यु॒धेव॑ शक्रास्तवि॒षाणि॑ कर्तन ॥ (१)

हे मरुतो! मैं तुम्हारे प्राचीनतम महत्त्व का इसलिए वर्णन कर रहा हूं कि तुम यज्ञवेदी पर शीघ्र आकर यज्ञ संपन्न कराओ. हे गमन के समय विशाल ध्वनि करने वाले एवं समस्त कार्य करने में समर्थ! तुम्हारे यज्ञस्थल में आते ही समिधाओं की ज्वाला उसी प्रकार महती हो जाती है, जिस प्रकार तुम रण में अपना पराक्रम दिखाते हो. O Maruto! I am describing your oldest importance so that you should come to the yajna vedi soon and perform the yajna. O those who make great noises and are able to do all the work at the time of departure! As soon as you come to the place of your yajna, the flame of the samidahas becomes great in the same way that you show your might in the wilderness. (1)
