उच्छि॑ष्टे॒ द्यावा॑पृथि॒वी विश्वं॑ भू॒तं स॒माहि॑तम् । आपः॑ समु॒द्र उच्छि॑ष्टे च॒न्द्रमा॒ वात॒ आहि॑तः ॥ (२)

उच्छिष्ट अर्थात्‌ होम करने के बाद बचे हुए भात में स्वर्ग, पृथ्वी तथा उन में स्थित प्राणी आश्रित हैं. इस उच्छिष्ट में जल, सागर, चंद्रमा और वायु स्थित हैं. (२)
