स॒हस्र॑बाहुः॒ पुरु॑षः सहस्रा॒क्षः स॒हस्र॑पात् । स भूमिं॑ वि॒श्वतो॑ वृ॒त्वात्यति॑ष्ठद्दशाङ्गु॒लम् ॥ (१)

अनंत भुजाओं, अनंत नेत्रों और अनंत चरणों वाले यज्ञ का अनुष्ठान करने वाले नारायण नाम के पुरुष हैं, वे सात समुद्रों और सात द्वीपों वाली भूमि को अपनी महिमा से सभी ओर से व्यक्त कर के दश अंगुल वाले हृदय रूप आकाश में स्थित हुए. (१)
