मन्दा॑महे॒ दश॑तयस्य धा॒सेर्द्विर्यत्पञ्च॒ बिभ्र॑तो॒ यन्त्यन्ना॑ । किमि॒ष्टाश्व॑ इ॒ष्टर॑श्मिरे॒त ई॑शा॒नास॒स्तरु॑ष ऋञ्जते॒ नॄन् ॥ (१३)

जब-जब हम विश्वदेवों की स्तुति करते हैं, तब-तब ऋत्विज्‌ दस प्रकार की इंद्रियों को पुष्ट करने वाले दस प्रकार के अन्नों को धारण करके यज्ञ मंडप की ओर चलते हैं. इष्टाश्च एवं इष्टरश्मि नाम के राजा शत्रुनाशक एवं नेता-रूप वरुण आदि देवताओं को बिलकुल प्रसन्न नहीं कर सकते. (१३)

Whenever we praise the Vishwadevas, the ritwijas walk towards the yagna mandap, holding the ten types of grains that reinforce the ten kinds of senses. The kings of Ishtash and Ishtasmi, the enemies and the leader-form Varuna, etc., cannot please the gods at all. (13)
