आपो॒ भूयि॑ष्ठा॒ इत्येको॑ अब्रवीद॒ग्निर्भूयि॑ष्ठ॒ इत्य॒न्यो अ॑ब्रवीत् । व॒ध॒र्यन्तीं॑ ब॒हुभ्यः॒ प्रैको॑ अब्रवीदृ॒ता वद॑न्तश्चम॒साँ अ॑पिंशत ॥ (९)

तीन ऋभुओं में से एक बोला-“जल ही सर्वोत्तम है.” दूसरे ने अग्नि एवं तीसरे ने धरती को उत्तम स्वीकार किया. इस प्रकार सच्ची बात कहते हुए उन्होंने चमस के चार भाग किए. (९)

English

One of the three sages said, "Water is the best," the other accepted agni and the third accepted the earth better. Thus speaking the truth, he did four parts of the spoon. (9)
