त्वम॑ग्ने॒ मन॑वे॒ द्याम॑वाशयः पुरू॒रव॑से सु॒कृते॑ सु॒कृत्त॑रः । श्वा॒त्रेण॒ यत्पि॒त्रोर्मुच्य॑से॒ पर्या त्वा॒ पूर्व॑मनय॒न्नाप॑रं॒ पुनः॑ ॥ (४)

हे अग्नि! तुमने मनु पर अनुग्रह करके यह बताया था कि किन कर्मो से स्वर्ग मिलता है. तुमने अपने सेवक पुरूरवा को शोभन फल दिया. दोनों काष्ठ तुम्हारे माता-पिता हैं. उनके घर्षण से तुम उत्पन्न होते हो. ऋत्विज्‌ तुम्हें पहले वेदी के पूर्व भाग में ले जाते हैं, बाद में पश्चिम भाग में. (४)

English

O agni! You had shown it by being kind to Manu that by which deeds one gets heaven. You have given a fruitful fruit to your servant Pururava. Both woods are your parents. You arise from their friction. The ritwijs take you first to the east part of the altar, then to the west part. (4)
