स तु॒र्वणि॑र्म॒हाँ अ॑रे॒णु पौंस्ये॑ गि॒रेर्भृ॒ष्टिर्न भ्रा॑जते तु॒जा शवः॑ । येन॒ शुष्णं॑ मा॒यिन॑माय॒सो मदे॑ दु॒ध्र आ॒भूषु॑ रा॒मय॒न्नि दाम॑नि ॥ (३)

इंद्र शत्रुनाशक और महान्‌ हैं. इंद्र की दोषरहित एवं शत्रुनाशकारी शक्ति वीर पुरुषों द्वारा करने योग्य संग्राम में पर्वत की चोटी के समान विराजमान होती है. शत्रुविनाशक एवं लौहकवचधारी इंद्र ने सोमपान के द्वारा मदोन्मत्त होकर मायावी असुर शुष्ण को बेड़ियां डाल कर कारागृह में बंद कर दिया था. (३)
