अ॒स्मा इदु॒ प्र भ॑रा॒ तूतु॑जानो वृ॒त्राय॒ वज्र॒मीशा॑नः किये॒धाः । गोर्न पर्व॒ वि र॑दा तिर॒श्चेष्य॒न्नर्णां॑स्य॒पां च॒रध्यै॑ ॥ (१२)

हे शीघ्रताकारक, सबके स्वामी एवं अपरिमित बलशाली इंद्र! तुम इस वृत्र के ऊपर वज्र का प्रहार करो. जिस प्रकार मांस के विक्रेता पशु के अंगों को काटते हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम वृत्र के शरीर के जोड़ अपने वज्र से तिरछे रूप में काटो, इससे वर्षा होगी और धरती पर जल बहने लगेगा. (१२)

O hasty, lord of all and infinitely powerful Indra! You strike the thunderbolt on this circle. Just as the sellers of meat cut off the animal's parts, so you cut the joints of the vrikra's body diagonally from your thunderbolt, it will rain and water will start flowing on the earth. (12)
