आ॒विर॑भू॒न्महि॒ माघो॑नमेषां॒ विश्वं॑ जी॒वं तम॑सो॒ निर॑मोचि । महि॒ ज्योतिः॑ पि॒तृभि॑र्द॒त्तमागा॑दु॒रुः पन्था॒ दक्षि॑णाया अदर्शि ॥ (१)

इन यजमानों का यज्ञ पूरा करने के लिए इंद्र का महान्‌ तेज प्रकट हुआ. उसके बाद सभी जीव अंधकार से मुक्त हुए. पितरों द्वारा दी हुई महान्‌ ज्योति हमारे सामने आई. उसी ने दक्षिणा का विस्तृत मार्ग दिखाया. (१)
