बी॒भ॒त्सूनां॑ स॒युजं॑ हं॒समा॑हुर॒पां दि॒व्यानां॑ स॒ख्ये चर॑न्तम् । अ॒नु॒ष्टुभ॒मनु॑ चर्चू॒र्यमा॑ण॒मिन्द्रं॒ नि चि॑क्युः क॒वयो॑ मनी॒षा ॥ (९)

उन भयभीत एवं दिव्य जलों का साथी बनकर मित्रता का आचरण करने वाला हंस कहलाता है. स्तुतियोग्य एवं बार-बार जल के पीछे जाने वाले इंद्र की प्रशंसा विद्वान्‌ मंत्रों द्वारा करते हैं. (९)

The one who conducts friendship by becoming a companion of those fearful and divine waters is called a swan. The scholars praise Indra, who goes after the water praises praise him through praiseworthy and frequent water mantras. (9)
