प्रथ॑श्च॒ यस्य॑ स॒प्रथ॑श्च॒ नामानु॑ष्टुभस्य ह॒विषो॑ ह॒विर्यत् । धा॒तुर्द्युता॑नात्सवि॒तुश्च॒ विष्णो॑ रथंत॒रमा ज॑भारा॒ वसि॑ष्ठः ॥ (१)

वसिष्ठ के पुत्र पृथु हैं और भरद्वाज के सुप्रथ हैं. इन में से वसिष्ठ धाता, दीप्तिशाली सविता और विष्णु के समीप से अनुष्टुप्‌ छंद वाला एवं हवि को शुद्ध करने वाला साममंत्र लाए थे. (१)
