तद॑ग्ने॒ चक्षुः॒ प्रति॑ धेहि रे॒भे श॑फा॒रुजं॒ येन॒ पश्य॑सि यातु॒धान॑म् । अ॒थ॒र्व॒वज्ज्योति॑षा॒ दैव्ये॑न स॒त्यं धूर्व॑न्तम॒चितं॒ न्यो॑ष ॥ (१२)

हे अग्नि! गर्जन करते हुए इस राक्षस पर वह दृष्टि डालो जो तुम खुरों के समान नाखूनों द्वारा सज्जनों को भग्न करने वाले राक्षस पर डालते हो. दध्यङ्‌ अथर्वा ऋषि जिस प्रकार अपने तेज से राक्षसों को मारते हैं, उसी प्रकार तुम अपने तेज से असत्य द्वारा सत्य का हनन करने वाले राक्षस को मारो. (१२)
