अ॒पां नपा॒दा ह्यस्था॑दु॒पस्थं॑ जि॒ह्माना॑मू॒र्ध्वो वि॒द्युतं॒ वसा॑नः । तस्य॒ ज्येष्ठं॑ महि॒मानं॒ वह॑न्ती॒र्हिर॑ण्यवर्णाः॒ परि॑ यन्ति य॒ह्वीः ॥ (९)

अपांनपात्‌ कुटिलगति जलों के बीच स्वयं ऊपर उठकर जलते हुए एवं तेजस्वी बादल धारण करते हुए आकाश में स्थित होते हैं. सुनहरे रंग की नदियां उनके महत्त्व को सब जगह फैलाती हुई बहती हैं. (९)
