द्विर्यं पञ्च॒ जीज॑नन्सं॒वसा॑नाः॒ स्वसा॑रो अ॒ग्निं मानु॑षीषु वि॒क्षु । उ॒ष॒र्बुध॑मथ॒र्यो॒३॒॑ न दन्तं॑ शु॒क्रं स्वासं॑ पर॒शुं न ति॒ग्मम् ॥ (८)

हे विद्वान्‌ यज्ञ के दूत, कार्यो को जानने वाले, धरती और आकाश के मध्य भाग से भली-भांति परिचित, पुरातन, थोड़े हव्य को अधिक करने में समर्थ, अतिशय विद्वान्‌ एव देवों के दूत अग्नि! तुम देवों को हवि देने के लिए स्वर्ग की सीढ़ियों पर चढ़ते हो. (८)

O learned angel of yajna, the knower of the works, well acquainted with the middle part of the earth and the sky, the old, capable of overdoing a little human being, the most learned and the messengers of the gods, the agni! You climb the stairs of heaven to give glory to the gods. (8)
