त्वां दू॒तम॑ग्ने अ॒मृतं॑ यु॒गेयु॑गे हव्य॒वाहं॑ दधिरे पा॒युमीड्य॑म् । दे॒वास॑श्च॒ मर्ता॑सश्च॒ जागृ॑विं वि॒भुं वि॒श्पतिं॒ नम॑सा॒ नि षे॑दिरे ॥ (८)

हे मरणरहित, प्रत्येक काल में हव्यवहन करने वाले, पालक एवं स्तुतियोग्य अग्नि! देवों एवं मानवों ने तुम्हें दूत बनाया था. उन्होंने जागरणशील व्याप्त एवं प्रजापालक अग्नि को नमस्कार द्वारा यज्ञ में स्थापित किया था. (८)
