देव्यो॑ वम्र्यो भू॒तस्य॑ प्रथम॒जा म॒खस्य॑ वो॒ऽद्य शिरो॑ राध्यासं देव॒यज॑ने पृथि॒व्याः।म॒खाय॑ त्वा म॒खस्य॑ त्वा शी॒र्ष्णे ॥ (४)

अग्नि की लपटें सब से पहले उत्पन्न हुई हैं. वे प्राणियों से भी पहले उत्पन्न हुई हैं. पृथ्वी के इस दिव्य यज्ञ में हम आप को शिरोधार्य करते हैं. हम यज्ञ के लिए आप को यज्ञ के शीर्षस्थ स्थान पर प्रतिष्ठित करते हैं. (४)
