अथ॑र्वाणं पि॒तरं॑ दे॒वब॑न्धुं मा॒तुर्गर्भं॑ पि॒तुरसुं॒ युवा॑नम् । य इ॒मं य॒ज्ञं मन॑सा चि॒केत॒ प्र णो॑ वोच॒स्तमि॒हेह ब्र॑वः ॥ (१)

प्रजाओं के पालक देवों की सृष्टि करने वाले, माता के गर्भ से जन्म लेने वाले बालक को युवा बनाने वाले एवं गर्भ के जनक को प्राण युक्त करने वाले प्रजापति से मैं अपनी अभिलाषा की सिद्धि के लिए याचना करता हूं. उस ने इस ज्योतिहोम आदि यज्ञ को मन से जाना है. हे ब्रह्म! उस प्रजापति को मुझे बताओ. इस बात की अभिलाषा पूर्ण करने वाले यज्ञ कर्म में बताओ.
