रक्षो॒हणं॑ वा॒जिन॒मा जि॑घर्मि मि॒त्रं प्रथि॑ष्ठ॒मुप॑ यामि॒ शर्म॑ । शिशा॑नो अ॒ग्निः क्रतु॑भिः॒ समि॑द्धः॒ स नो॒ दिवा॒ स रि॒षः पा॑तु॒ नक्त॑म् ॥ (१)

मैं राक्षसों का हनन करने वाले एवं बल के साधन अन्न से युक्त अग्नि के लिए हवन करता हूं. यज्ञ के द्वारा मैं मित्र बने हुए विस्तार को प्राप्त अग्नि की शरण जाता हूं. तीक्ष्ण ज्चालाओं वाले वे अग्नि देव आज्य आदि के द्वारा प्रज्वलित हों. इस प्रकार के अग्नि देव दिन में हिंसा करने वाले से हमारी रक्षा करें. I perform havan for the agni that destroys the demons and contains food, the means of strength. Through yajna, I become a friend and take refuge in the agni to get expansion. Those agni gods with sharp movements should be ignited by ajya etc. May this kind of agni god protect us from those who commit violence during the day. (1)
