अ॑शि॒ताव॒त्यति॑थावश्नीयाद्य॒ज्ञस्य॑ सात्म॒त्वाय॑ । य॒ज्ञस्यावि॑च्छेदाय॒ तद्व्र॒तम् ॥ (८)

अतिथि के भोजन कर लेने पर ही यजमान भोजन करे. यज्ञ के निर्वाह एवं यज्ञ का विच्छेद न होने के लिए ही यह व्रत है. (८)

The host should eat only after the guest has eaten. This fast is only for the sustenance of the yajna and the separation of the yajna. (8)
