मृ॒त्योः प॒दं यो॒पय॑न्तो॒ यदैत॒ द्राघी॑य॒ आयुः॑ प्रत॒रं दधा॑नाः । आ॒प्याय॑मानाः प्र॒जया॒ धने॑न शु॒द्धाः पू॒ता भ॑वत यज्ञियासः ॥ (२)

हे मृत व्यक्ति के संबंधियो! तुम मृत्यु के मार्ग अर्थात्‌ पितृयान को छोड़ो. इस प्रकार तुम लंबी आयु प्राप्त करोगे. हे यज्ञ करने वाले यजमानो! तुम संतान एवं गाय आदि धन से संपन्न होकर जन्ममरण के दुःख से शुद्ध एवं पवित्र बनो. (२)

O relatives of the dead man! You leave the path of death i.e. the pitrayana. This way you will get a long life. O hosts who perform yajna! You should be pure and holy from the sorrow of birth by being blessed with wealth like children and cows etc. (2)
